Surviving the AI Revolution: Nvidia CEO’s Urgent Call to Embrace the Future

When OpenAI launched its conversational chatbot, ChatGPT, on November 30, 2022, it signaled a leap in the world’s recognition of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Despite AI’s growing presence in everyday technologies, from autonomous vehicles to voice assistants like Siri and Alexa, the true progress of AI has often been overlooked. However, ChatGPT dramatically altered this perception.

Pioneering a new era of internet search with its human-like responses to even intricate requests, ChatGPT showcased how AI could outperform humans in specific tasks. In response, Microsoft swiftly integrated these innovative features into Bing, its search engine, and extended them across nearly all its products, including its cloud activities.

The big switch comes when users now pose queries to Microsoft’s Bing. Instead of receiving an array of links, they get precise answers to their questions. This technology even extends to complex undertakings, such as writing a book.

In the wake of ChatGPT, tech giants like Google launched their AI solutions, like Bard. The AI race is not exclusive to tech companies. Industries ranging from automotive to finance to fashion are rapidly incorporating AI in their operations.

The AI revolution, driven by large-language-model technology, has the potential to disrupt every economic sector. With expectations of reducing corporate costs, creating new jobs, and potentially eliminating many existing ones, AI stands as a monumental game-changer.

Addressing this transformative wave, Jensen Huang, the CEO and co-founder of Nvidia, delivered an unequivocal message in his commencement speech at the National Taiwan University in Taipei on May 28.

According to Huang, individuals and companies reluctant to embrace AI risk becoming outdated. He proclaimed that this game-changing technology will reshape businesses and virtually every job. As such, it’s essential for individuals and companies to adopt AI, which has been propelling Nvidia’s stock price.

“Agile companies will take advantage of AI and boost their position. Companies less so will perish,” Huang candidly advised the graduates. He also encouraged them to take risks and be innovative in the AI era to stay competitive.

His advice was vivid: “Either you are running for food, or you are running from becoming food.”

Huang’s company, Nvidia, seems to be leading the charge. Following the announcement of its fiscal first quarter results on May 24, the stock soared 27.5% in two trading sessions. This dramatic increase brought Nvidia closer to the exclusive club of companies with over $1 trillion in market capitalization.

Nvidia’s position in the AI landscape is unique as its graphics cards are used for training and developing AI systems through machine learning and deep learning programs. High-performance computing within data centers relies heavily on Nvidia’s GPUs, making the company a key player in the AI revolution.

As investors and entrepreneurs, the urgent call from Nvidia’s CEO serves as a timely reminder of the importance of staying abreast of technology trends and proactively embracing AI. After all, in this transformative era, adaptability is not just a desirable trait—it’s a survival strategy.
